Hello Friends in Design,
Time to share some finds from the week… as always, click on the image to see the rest of the project & context. Cheers to the weekend!
Modern forms continue to be softened. This tiled hood is a quiet presence against the bolder curves of that statement island in this house built by Mazzei, a luxury home builder in Australia.
This corner shot of the original heritage paneling (right) meeting the new interpretation (left) caught my eye in Garde Hvalsøe’s showroom in Denmark.
Sometimes non-residential spaces can be a source of inspiration, like this restaurant in Poland by Agnieszka Owsiany Studio. I think the stone element modernizes the familiar plate rack form.
The recently opened Fisher & Paykel “Experience Centre” in Toronto merges historical preservation with modern ideas as clean modern forms are juxtaposed against aged and organic textures. The cube on the right reminded me of this collection from RH.
Finally, I wanted to share this house tour I came across. Doesn’t the outside look like something you’d find on the Main Line? The homeowner, Alfredo Paredes, used to head the design of Ralph Lauren’s retail spaces and home collections (Including the Polo Bar!). Wait until you see the kitchen!
